Sea Battered Rocks - Weebly.com
Viral Nights
by Angie Minkin
You give up at 2 am,
patrol the dark house, gather totems: feathers from Laura’s elderly peacock, sea-battered rocks the kids collected long ago, the Tibetan bell, white sage. You craft a shrine, an offrenda to a god you don’t believe in, mutter prayers in Yiddish, Spanish, chants from your Buddhist phase. Check on your neighbors: so many lights in windows that should be blissfully dark. You sigh yourself to sleep, not alone. |
